NOVEMBER IS A BUSY MONTH

1 Nov was the preview of the Silent Spaces exhibition at the Art Lounge, this fantastic photographic exhibition runs until 6th January and is set in fantastic surroundings.

I liked it so much I bought two 'Karl Sinfields'

8 Nov interviewed by Amanda Penman from Artsbeat, a new monthly magazine to promote the arts in Derbyshire and the Peak District due to launch early next year, to find out more visit the blog or facebook or twitter @artsbeat.

I really enjoyed the interview and am looking forward to seeing the article in the first edition.

10/11 Nov a weekend workshop at the Whitworth Art Gallery. Part of the 'Serious about Art' series, this one was 'Textiles as Contemporary Art'.

Experimenting with the shapes & colours
from Aisha's work
Taking inspiration from Aisha Khalid's Larger Than Life exhibition, we were based within the galleries for the duration of the workshop, which was a totally creative environment to be in.

Experiments with 3D patchwork
Hannah was a fantastic tutor who had helped Aisha install the work at the Whitworth, her own work was also a great inspiration and she shared ideas and techniques.
I concentrated on the geometric shapes from Aisha's work and had great fun trying out a variety of 3D embroidery techniques that Hannah introduced.

19 Nov  attended 'Press & PR for the Creative Sector' at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton, hosted by Creative Derbyshire and led by Fiona Mitchell-Innes. Lots of good information and met new creative people such as Zoe Marsh and Stella from lucentia-design.com
Also loved tearing things I liked out of magazines to tell a story about my work...
